On the 15th of April 2024 Steven (Steve) Arthur Lakies of Buckley passed unexpectedly at Munson Medical Center. He was born in Cadillac Michigan on February 9, 1958, to Elizabeth (Cooper)Lakies and Edward J. Lakies.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kristy Lakies; Mother, Elizabeth Kroupa of Traverse City; Brother, Micheal Lakies of Traverse City; Sister, Nadine Labay of Washington state; Son, Dustin (Bethany) Lakies of Battle Creek; Daughter, Melissa Lakies of Traverse City; Sister-in-law, Jodi (David) Brown and Mother-in-Law Rosie, (Al Kniss) Lautner of Williamsburg; Children of the heart, Jon Lautner, Corey (Amber) Clark, Mari (Matt) Pease and Bailey (Jeff)Merritt. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Matt, Brayden and Austin; his loyal shenanigan followers Ava, Sofie, Cambriea, Sophie, Tayson, Justin, Justice and Vincent who called him Papa; Nephew, Nick; Niece, Jamie, Niece, Stephanie, Niece, Sarah, Niece, Lisa and Niece, Brandi; Uncle, Jim (Margaret) Lakies; Aunt, Barbara Husted, Aunt, Jean Swanson and a lot of great nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, E.J. Lakies; Brother, Ron Lakies; Loving, Aunt Kay, Aunt Joan and all Grandparents.

Steve owned and operated Lakies Autobody for many years; however, he had a love/hate relationship with it. He excelled at his craft and many of his restorations have won awards at shows. He enjoyed drag racing as he grew up at the tracks with his father and brothers. Often in the back seat as his father raced down the track.

Steve was kind, loving and funny. He helped anyone and everyone that needed it. He was sometimes difficult and obstinate, but his heart was always pure. He loved his family and friends more than he could ever express. His warm smile, twinkling eyes, quick wit, and giving spirit will never be forgotten.

A memorial is planned for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 3pm at Through The Roof Fellowship Church 6517 Bates Rd, Williamsburg Mi 49690.
